The Boland XV registered the biggest victory in the second round as they defeated Border 77-24, while EP Rural beat Border Rural 20-13.
The clash between DHL Western Province’s Emerging team and Eastern Province was thrilling as the Port Elizabeth team took a 20-13 lead going into the break. However, the Cape side tightened up their defence and stepped up their attack in the second half, which allowed them to deny their opponents from adding to their score, while they did well to convert their chances into points.
Boland A, meanwhile, dominated their clash against SWD from the first half as they built up an encouraging 23-10 lead at the break. They continued this fine form into the second half and increased their try tally to five to add to four penalty goals in the match, which allowed them to stretch their score and secure the 41-29 victory.
In Friday’s final round, Western Province and Boland A will meet in the Cup Final at 13h15, while the Boland XV will take on EP Rural in the Plate Final. EP and SWD, meanwhile, will meet in the 3rd/4th-place play-off, while Border will meet their counterparts Border Rural in the 7th/8th-place play-off.
