The Western Province Rugby Football Union (WPRFU), along with the Western Province High Schools and Primary Schools rugby associations, have moved to distance themselves from false information currently being circulated regarding the resumption of schools rugby.

It is being erroneously claimed by certain individuals that schools rugby will resume in July. This false information is being circulated and communicated on various platforms, but should be disregarded as false.

While the rugby landscape is being constantly assessed and evaluated in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and the nationwide lockdown, it is important to note that no decision on the resumption of schools rugby has yet been taken.

Any announcement on the resumption of rugby will be according to government and SA Rugby guidelines and will be made via official channels and platforms.

Any information regarding the resumption of rugby that does not come from the WPRFU or other governing body, should be disregarded until such time that an official announcement is made.
