Wholesale changes for DHL WP U21

PUBLISHED: July 30, 2019

There are 10 changes to the DHL Western Province U21 team that will face Leopards U21 in Potchefstroom on Saturday.

Following their encouraging win against Vodacom Blue Bulls U21 at DHL Newlands last week, head coach Jerome Paarwater has rung the changes as his team look for their second win of the season against Leopards U21, in a match that kicks off at 12h00 on Saturday.

The changes to the backline see Duren Hoffman on the wing, with Matthew More at outside centre and Abner van Reenen forming a new halfback partnership with Gerardo Jaars.

Up front props Dandre Degenaar and Dian Bleuler start either side of Dan Jooste in an all-new front row, while Ian Kitwanga comes into the second row and Jesse Johnson is on the flank.

Paarwater said that it is important for his side to back up their performance last week with a win away from home.

“Last week we showed that we can perform under pressure, but the challenge is to show that we can do that on the road.

“We would like to see the players step up and prove that they can deliver an accurate performance,” he said.
