Springbok captain Siya Kolisi is fit to play and expected to feature for DHL Western Province in their Currie Cup encounter with Phakisa Pumas at DHL Newlands on Women’s Day on Friday.
Kolisi is making his way back from a knee injury he picked up playing for the DHL Stormers and will pull on the blue and white hoops of DHL Western Province for the first time since 2014.
DHL Western Province Head Coach John Dobson said that Kolisi has already added great value off the field in the last few weeks and will play an important role on Friday in a crucial match against the Mpumalanga side, which kicks off at 15h00 on Friday.
“Siya has been with us for almost three weeks now and he has been at every session, putting in and contributing. You are used to some Springboks coming back and it is beneath them, but this guy is different, so I am hoping he will give us a lot of confidence.
“That is probably the one thing the team needs, when you lose a game no matter how much you deserve to win, if you lose that changeroom is like a mortuary afterwards.
“I think just his life and presence will make a big difference,” he said.

Dobson will announce the team to face the Phakisa Pumas on Wednesday, but he says that Kolisi may well be part of the starting line-up for the Women’s Day game.
“We haven’t decided yet, but I think our plan with Siya is to start him, because I think he will give the team a lot of confidence,” Dobson added.
