DHL Western Province scored seven tries on their way to a convincing 45-14 victory against Phakisa Pumas at DHL Newlands on Friday.
The bonus point win sees DHL Western Province move up to third position on the Currie Cup standings, with away games against the Tafel Lager Griquas and Toyota Free State Cheetahs still to come before the play-offs.
The visitors were first to score, as outside centre Alwayno Visagie burst through for the opening try, but DHL Western Province responded with five unanswered tries before half-time.
Wing Sergeal Petersen finished the first try in the corner and then created the second, as he raced down the touchline before finding No.8 Sikhumbuzo Notshe, who sprinted away to score in the same corner.
The second try came as a result of a thunderous hit from outside centre Ruhan Nel, which shook the ball loose and into the hands of Seabelo Senatla, with the flyer needing no second invitation to race away and score.
The forwards had a hand in creating the next try, with Scarra Ntubeni and Siya Kolisi both being brought down just short, but it was scrumhalf Justin Phillips who scored against the pole to secure the bonus point.
They were not done there and Senatla was over for his second try before the break, after flank Ernst van Rhyn had intercepted and put him away.
Van Rhyn scored the first try in the second half as he found a way over the line from close range following a powerful maul.
The visitors got a second try late on from flyhalf Chris Smith, but it was little more than a consolation as Nel had the final say with the seventh try.
