PUBLISHED: June 10, 2019

DHL Western Province finished the league phase of the SuperSport Rugby Challenge as the top-ranked team and will face Tafel Lager Griquas in their semifinal in Nelspruit on Sunday.

With six wins from their seven league games, it has been another dominant SuperSport Rugby Challenge campaign for DHL Western Province. They have lost just two games in the competition over three seasons.

Their solitary defeat came in the final round before the play-offs as they were edged 22-21 by Boland in an intense Cape derby at Florida Park on Sunday.

Defending champions, iSG Pumas will meet Boland and DHL Western Province will face Tafel Lager Griquas next Sunday in the semifinals.

Both matches will be played at KaNyamazane Stadium near Nelspruit on Sunday, 16 June in the penultimate Rugby Festival of the competition, to determine who will travel to the West Coast on Sunday, 23 June where the final will be played at the Saldanha Sports Stadium.

DHL Western Province Head Coach Jerome Paarwater said that his team is looking forward to the challenge of playing knock-out rugby.

“We have managed to play some good rugby in this competition, but that will not count for much if we do not pitch and up and execute our disciplines on Sunday.

“We will be putting everything into this weekend, I know the players are very excited about the trip to Nelspruit,” he said.
