There will be a number of special activities at DHL Newlands on Friday in celebration of Women’s Day.
DHL Western Province will be in action against the Phakisa Pumas in a Currie Cup encounter at 15h00, but there will be a lot more going on as we remember the march of the women to the Union Buildings in 1956.
Action at DHL Newlands will get underway at 10h30 when the DHL Western Province U18 girls team face their counterparts from Boland. This will be followed by DHL Western Province U21 against Cell C Sharks U21 at 12h30, ahead of the main game at 15h00.
As part of a wider celebration of Women’s Day at DHL Newlands, all women will get a free ticket with any full price Category One ticket. This special will entitle all women to two Category One tickets at DHL Newlands for just R100. Tickets are available online at wprugby.computicket.com under ‘Women’s Day special’. There will be Brutal Fruit and JC le Roux tastings on the Castle Lawns for the ladies before the game, with every match day entrance ticket for the game entering you into a half-time draw for a Castle hamper. (Strictly over 18’s only).
There will be ball girls on the side of the field, while the DHL Dancers will also have a special Women’s Day dance routine, with ladies on the DHL couch pitchside and the playlist made up of female vocalists as part of the in-stadium entertainment. Cato Louw will represent broadcaster SuperSport fieldside.
Experienced referee Aimee Barrett-Theron has been appointed as one of the Assistant Referees for the Currie Cup game at 15h00.

Parking is available at schools in the stadium vicinity and will also open at 15h00 at Groote Schuur Primary School (R50), Groote Schuur High School (R50), Sans Souci Girls’ High School (R50) and Rondebosch Preparatory (R50), SACS Preparatory (R50). No braaing allowed on these fields.
Gates on matchday will open at 10h15, so spectators are encouraged to allow enough time to clear security and get to their seats timeously in order to avoid missing any of the action.
Tickets are available through Computicket- either online at wprugby.computicket.com – or in-store and also from Shoprite/Checkers stores and the DHL Newlands Box Office during match weeks. Only tickets bought from wprugby.computicket.com, or any Computicket outlet will be valid at DHL Newlands. These are the only outlets which are licenced to sell tickets to DHL Newlands. Tickets obtained from any other source may not be valid.
Spectators are encouraged to buy tickets online and collect tickets offsite in order to avoid queues and any other issues.
There are more ticket options beyond the standard season ticket and matchday ticket. The DHL Newlands Faithful will be able to ‘Upgrade to Business Class’ in a special offer. The halfway line Business Class seats have been refurbished on the halfway line in Block H on the Railway Stand and holders of these tickets will also have exclusive access to the Railway Coach bars both before, during and after the match. These prime seats will cost R320 each.
There will be no public signing session held after the game.

Please specifically note that – Western Province Rugby, the SAPS, VOC Commander, the safety officer or Disaster Management members shall be entitled to refuse admission to, or to eject from the Ground, any person whose behaviour or conduct could in the reasonable opinion of WP Rugby, the SAPS, VOC Commander, the safety officer or Disaster Management members constitute a source of danger, nuisance or annoyance to spectators or other persons.
Western Province Rugby reserves the right to refuse admission to, or to eject from the Ground, any person who in the reasonable opinion of WP Rugby, its servants or agents, makes or incites any form of racial abuse, chanting, gesturing or behaviour.
Please specifically note that unauthorised access to the field is strictly prohibited and field invaders will be subject to arrest by SAPS. In the Stadium no unauthorised person is permitted on the playing or performance area (i.e. the pitch and its surrounding and no person may remain in a gangway, entrance, exit or staircase at any time).
Spectators are also reminded that admission to the Stadium may also be denied to ticket holders under the influence of, or carrying alcohol or any narcotic substance and that the stadium is a non-smoking facility. Pass-outs are allowed at designated gates to allow smokers to exit the stadium.
Please also note that the Pickard and scholars stand are alcohol-free zones. Two beers per person may be purchased and taken onto the stands, as long as they are decanted into plastic mugs.
