The Western Province Rugby Football Union was saddened to learn of the passing of former WPRFU Finance Committee member Shafiek April this week.
The Caledonian Roses RFC stalwart joined the Athlone club in 1984 and represented ‘Callies’ at WPRFU Council meetings.
Known as ‘Boeta April’, he was an accomplished rugby administrator who sadly passed away at the age of 83.
WPRFU President Zelt Marais said that April would be remembered for his tireless efforts to serve rugby.
“Shafiek April served his club and rugby in the region a great service in a long and distinguished career.
“Our thoughts are with his family and the people whose lives he impacted through his efforts to uplift lives through rugby,” he said.
