The second round of action in the WPRFU Score Club Rugby 7’s took place at Goodwood Rugby Stadium on Saturday. The electric Sevens action seen on the opening weekend continued and a few teams clearly stamped their mark on proceedings.

There are still 10 unbeaten clubs in the tournament and the action on top of the table as just as intense as the struggle at the bottom of the table as clubs want to ensure participation in the final round.

The top position in Pool A is shared by no less than four teams all on the same number of log points (29). Brackenfell continued their rampant form, scoring three from three on the day. False Bay did much the same as they beat Police 43–0 and Elsies River 21–0.

UWC stayed true to their highly rated Sevens credentials when they proved much too strong for Young Stars (22–7), Langa (22-0) and Strand (28–0) and Young Peoples also showed why they are no push overs in Sevens rugby. The other unbeaten teams in Pool A are Durbell, Bellville and Macassar.

At the bottom end of the tussle in Pool A, no less than five teams are yet to score their first win. They are Langa, Elsies. Young Stars, Titans and Young Wesleys.

In Pool B, Stellenbosch and Helderberg are setting the tone being tied at top spot on 30 points followed by Belhar on 29 points after six games.

Maties defeated Eersterivier (41–0), Silvertree (48–0) and Thistles (48–0), while Helderberg remained unbeaten seeing off the challenges of Thistles (50–7), Rangers (26–10), Goodwood (38–7) and Kraaifontein (33–19). Belhar came back after trailing to beat Vics 27–24 in a highly entertaining encounter.

At the bottom of Pool B, Raithby, Silvertree and Thistles are yet to pick up log points.

This coming weekend will see Round Three and all clubs still have huge contributions to make to the tournament.
