Round One of the WPRFU Score Club Rugby 7’s competition took place at Goodwood Rugby Club on Saturday.

The crowd in attendance were treated to an excellent display of Sevens action with many matches going down to the wire.
The teams are competing in two pools of 18 clubs each and will battle it out for qualification for the knock out phase scheduled to take place on 12 November, where only the top 16 clubs of each pool will compete for the tournament title.
In Pool A, Brackenfell came out guns blazing scoring a mammoth 26 tries along the way as they topped Pool A. Bellville, Young Peoples, False Bay, UWC, Durbell, Macassar and Hearts remain unbeaten.
Sevens powerhouse Strand had an uncharacteristically poor start to the tournament ending the day with three losses from three outings, but will bounce back strongly in the weeks to come.
In Pool B, six teams remain unbeaten. Maties, Helderberg, Belhar and Kuilsriver all stack the top of the table having secured maximum 10 points from their outings with Vics and Kraaifontein following suit with nine log points.
Host club Goodwood secured a well-earned draw against Rangers, while Kylemore upset their more fancied opponents Collegians.
With another five rounds of the tournament still to play, it is too early to call a potential winner. Expect some nail-biting action in the coming weeks.
Round Two of the tournament will see some tough action on Saturday 15th October. Much anticipated fixtures this week include Maties taking on Kuilsriver in a repeat of the Cup Semifinal of 2015 and Vics will battle it out against Belhar. In an exciting derby St. Georges will take on Strand.
