Another exciting round of Sevens action took place as the WPRFU Score Club Rugby 7’s tournament headed into Round Four at the Goodwood Rugby grounds on Saturday.

The day saw more than 2000 points scored on a day of breathtaking running rugby and a try-scoring spectacle.

Maties remains the only unbeaten team in the tournament so far and also remains on top in Pool B. The Stellenbosch team dominated the day and recorded victories over Collegians (24–0), Goodwood (40–0) and most impressively against Vics who they trounced 34–0. Their 41–7 win over Kraaifontein saw them concede their only points of Round Four.

Kuilsriver (currently second) also showed their class when they won all four of their matches. The beat Villager (45–5), Helderberg (24–19), Noordelikes (32–14), and Belhar (24–17) and remain on course to seriously challenge for the 2016 title after losing a close battle in 2015 in the semifinals, losing to eventual champions Maties.

In other results in Pool B, Silvertree defeated Raithby Universals 38–12, Kylemore thumped Eersterivier 33–10, Western Zebras went down to Rangers 26–21, while Vics and Kraaifontein played out to a 14–14 draw.

In Pool A, Brackenfell experienced the lows of Sevens when they suffered two losses in their three outings. They lost to Bellville (12–14) and Hands & Heart (17–5), before picking up a dominant 48–0 win over St Georges.

False Bay still leads the pack in this pool and playing without their star man Kurtley Johnson (called up for the Gold Cup Final), they still managed to conclude solid wins over Hands & Heart (31–5), Macassar (31–7), before defeating the unpredictable Young Peoples 31–10.

UWC recorded dominant wins over Titans (45–0) and St Georges (56–0) before a tightly fought 17–14 victory over Bellville. In other results within this pool, Young Stars turned their poor form around when they beat Callies 33–5. Durbell beat Young Peoples 26–12, while Strand narrowly overcame Peninsula 17–12. Police beat Langa 36–7.

With one more round of determining the final placings for the finals round, we expect more exciting Sevens coming up this weekend.

The first games kick off at 12h00 on Saturday, November 5.
