In another action-packed weekend of Sevens action at Goodwood Stadium in the WPRFU Score Club Rugby 7’s, the tables of both pools are settling and leaders are pulling away from the rest of the field.
Despite cold and overcast conditions, the action on the field remains hot, with outstanding individual performances from exciting Sevens players.
In Pool A, False Bay and Durbell suffered their first losses in the tournament while Brackenfell also dropped their first points of the tournament in their draw against Young Peoples. Brackenfell defeated Macassar 22–7 and Durbell 17–14.
Young Peoples beat Bellville (21–14), UWC (17–14), before running out comfortable winners against Young Stars 36–5. In other results, Macassar defeated UWC 15–14, Hands & Heart easily beat Bellville 33–0, Police beat Caledonian Roses 21–7, while Strand surprised Durbell 31–7.
In Pool B, leaders Maties continued their strong form with wins over Raithby Universals (24–8), Kylemore (22–19) and Rangers (36–5). Maties look serious about defending their title, but the performances of teams like Young Peoples, False Bay, Durbanville and Strand will not hand them the title on a platter.
Kuilsriver meanwhile took 2nd spot in the pool and continued their winning ways on Saturday. They picked up impressive wins over hosts Goodwood (47–7), neighbors Kraaifontein (31–0), Collegians (24–7), as well as a convincing 42–0 win over Silvertree.
Belhar kept up the pace with the league leaders following a 40–7 win over Rangers. Western Zebras defeated Raithby Universals 24–10, Vics beat Kylemore 36–12, while Noordelikes went down to Helderberg 35–7.
After three rounds of action, the standings in the pools see Raithby, Thistles, Young Wesleys and Titans being in danger of not making it into the final round. The rest of the clubs continue to jostle for a favorable position in the knock-out round.
Round Four will continue on Saturday 29th October with action kicking off at 12h00.
