The Western Province Rugby Football Union (WPRFU) was saddened to learn of the passing of long-serving physiotherapist Bruce McLoughlin.
McLoughlin was a loyal servant of the union for many years at the turn of the century, bringing immense professionalism to his role in what was a rapidly changing environment.
The former Stormers and Western Province physiotherapist, who was renowned for having a special bond with the players under his care, passed away on Thursday, at the age of 52.
President of the WPRFU, Mr Thelo Wakefield, paid tribute to McLoughlin and his high standards as a physiotherapist.
“Bruce was an exceptionally professional physio who kept our players in fine form. He was a very professional person and a true Province man,” said Wakefield.
Director of Rugby Gert Smal said that McLoughlin was a great example to those around him and team man through and through.
“It was a pleasure to know and work with Bruce, who always gave so much of himself to the team.
“He was a special man and an outstanding physio who was close to a lot of us,” said Smal.
