The table-topping DHL Western Province Under-21 team recorded a 54-35 win over the Leopards U21s in Potchefstroom on Friday afternoon.
Having watched the DHL WP Under-19 side recoed a 45-36 win over the Leopards U19s, the WP Under-21s were quickly into their stride at Profert Olën Park as they scored eight tries to four.
The visitors led by 28-16 at half-time, scoring four tries in either half as they consolidated their position at the top of the log in the 2013 Provincial Under-21 Competition.
Right-wing JP Lewis (pictured, above) opened his team's account in the seventh minute of play, before later collecting his team's fourth try before half-time. Lewis was not the only player to score a brace on the day, with No.6 flanker Justin Benn – in his first start of the season – also scoring two tries.
WP's other tries were scored by outside centre Pat Howard, left-wing Devon Williams, captain Rayn Smid and replacement forward Eital Bredenkamp. Flyhalf Tim Swiel missed just one kick at goal, converting seven of the WP juniors'
tries on the day for a personal points haul of 14.
The Province Under-21s have now won seven matches – from eight starts – this season, giving them 34 log points. The second-placed Blue Bulls – WP's opponents next weekend – are in second place with 25 points, but they have a game in hand over WP.
