The DHL Western Province Under-19 side kept up their unbeaten run in the 2014 Absa Provincial Under-19 tournament with a 38-10 win over Eastern Province’s Under-19s in Port Elizabeth on Friday.
The Province juniors led 16-3 at half-time and ran in their fourth and final try on the stroke of full-time as they recorded their third bonus point win in four matches in 2014.
Captain Rikus Bothma led from the front and scored WP’s third try deep in the second half, after earlier five-pointers by fullback Heinrich Buhr (first half) and flanker Charlton Jonas (second half).
Flying winger Dewald Naude grabbed the all-important fourth try from a turnover, when EP were hard on attack, but the visitors walked away well please with their afternoon’s work.
DHL WP Under-19 head coach Nazeem Adams told www.wprugby.co.za: “I’m happy given all the injury disruptions and changes this week.
“It certainly wasn’t our best performance but we got the five points away from home and we’re grateful for that.”
