WP says farewell to Louis Snyman

PUBLISHED: November 17, 2013

Western Province Rugby last week said goodbye to long-serving Stadium Manager Louis Snyman who has retired at the age of 62.

Louis first joined Western Province in September 1991 as the head groundsman, with his last day of work being on Wednesday, December 11 (2013).

He later moved up the ranks to Stadium Manager, a position he served in for over ten years, before eventually retiring this December after 22 years of loyal service.

Louis identified the 1995 Rugby World Cup as the highlight of his working career – especially the historic opening game at Newlands! – but he is looking forward to relaxing a bit and “taking a break”.

Louis told www.wprugby.com: “I guess it will be weird coming back to DHL Newlands as a spectator, given how busy my matchdays used to be for so many years, but I will always look back fondly at my time at Western Province.

“At least I will be able to sit back and enjoy a matchday now, but I certainly won’t complain too much as I know that happens behind the scenes!”
