WP Girls taste Sevens success

The DHL Western Province Under-18 Girls Sevens team claimed some more youth week success for WP, after winning their tournament in Wellington on Saturday.

The WP Girls won three from three on Day One en route to ending the two-day event as the winning side.

Province beat the Lions, the Griffons and the Blue Bulls on Friday, before winning their play-off matches and putting one past neighbours, Boland, in today’s final (winning 25-5).

Wing Shaylin Simon scored three tries in the final and centre Kimico Manuals scored a try doube. However, it was a brilliant team effort and fantastic hard work showed by the young WP girls to win all six their games.

Shaylin Simon was voted as the official Player of the Tournament, with 12 tries to her name, whilst the team conceded just three tries over two days of play and scored the most points, 197.
