‘Second-choice’ DHL WP U21s win big

PUBLISHED: October 11, 2014

The in-form DHL Western Province Under-21 side finished their 2014 Absa Provincial Under-21 league campaign with a bang, claiming a 51-32 win over the Sharks U21s at DHL Newlands on Saturday.

DHL Western Province Under-21 coach John Dobson opted to rest basically his entire first-choice team for this clash, with a top-of-the-log finish sewn up before this weekend, but his new group of players have given him a selection headache ahead of the semifinals.

The DHL WP U21s scored eight tries to five in the end, despite trailing by 10-18 at half-time, with energetic No.6 flanker Tapiwa Tsomondo scoring four tries.

The Province Under-21s will host the Free State Under-21s in next weekend’s Absa Under-21 semifinal at DHL Newlands (kick-off TBC) and will be hoping to progress to a third successive final under the coaching of Dobson.
