DHL Western Province ran in six tries on their way to a 39-24 victory against EP Kings in their SuperSport Rugby Challenge clash at City Park on Saturday.
It was the fifth consecutive win of the season for coach John Dobson’s team and their second against EP Kings.
The visitors were first to score through a penalty from flyhalf Garrick Mattheus, but DHL Western Province took the lead before long as fullback Craig Barry got over for the opening try.
They followed that up with a penalty from flyhalf Brandon Thomson, but the EP Kings were back in front soon afterwards as a try from wing Wandile Mjekevu put them 10-8 ahead.
However, DHL Western Province regrouped and hit back with two quick tries as Barry got over for his second before wing Marcello Samp7 at the half-time break.son got over the whitewash as well to put them 22-10 up on the half-hour mark.
The EP Kings responded with a try of their own from wing Siyanda Grey whch cut DHL Western Province’s lead to 22-17 at the half-time break.
DHL Wstern Province were first to strike in the second half, with Jaco Coetzee getting over for the bonus-point try.
Hooker Chad Solomon was next to score as DHL Western Province took control of the match with a healthy 34-17 advantage.
EP Kings scored a late try, but DHL Western Province hit back with a late try from Khanyo Ngcukana to seal their fifth consecutive win.
