DHL Western Province U20 scored six tries on their way to a dominant 45-8 victory against Toyota Cheetahs U20 at City Park on Saturday.
Three tries in each half saw DHL WP U20 claim what was ultimately a comfortable victory and return to winning ways after their narrow defeat in johannesburg last week.
The visitors opened the scoring with an early penalty, but those would be their only points of the first half.
DHL WP U20 drew level with a penalty of their own soon afterwards and they would add three tries to that by half-time to take a 24-3 lead into the break.
Inside centre Hofmeyr Retief crossed for two and hooker Gustav Laubscher scored from a maul, with flyhalf Sacha Mngomezulu converting all of them.
A yellow card to blindisde flank Ethan Snyman saw the home side play with 14 for 10 minutes, but Toyota Cheetahs U20 were unable to score in that time playing into the wind in the first half.
DHL WP U20 were down to 14 again early in the second half, when centre Ethan James was shown a yellow card. The Free State side took advantage with their first try, to make it 24-8.
The home side responded with the bonus point try as Mngomezulu stepped his man to score under the poles. It did not take them long to add the fifth try, with fullback Luke Burger getting on the end of a clever kick from Mngomezulu to score.
