Former Western Province and Springbok utility back Dave Stewart has sadly passed away at the age of 87.
A product of Wynberg Boys High School, Stewart represented Western Province and South Western Districts in his provincial career and featured at flyhalf, fullback and centre in his 11 Tests for the Springboks.
His international career started in 1960, having represented the Junior Springboks the previous year.
Following his playing career Stewart also served as a Springbok coach and selector. He was also made honourary life president of his club Villager RFC.
Stewart passed away at the age of 87, leaving his wife Joy, children Caroline, John, Suzie and Ashley and his grandchildren behind.
He will be remembered as a wonderful servant of rugby at a club, provincial and national level.
