DHL WP maintained their unbeaten record in this year’s Vodacom Cup, beating Free State XV 42-31 (22-14) in Durbanville and making it 7 from 7 in this year’s competition. Province had pre-kick-off already qualified for the play-offs.
It was a see-saw game that saw the lead change a number of times, which Province sealed just before the end of the game, when loose forward Rohan Kitshoff scored his third try.
For DHL Western Province Damian de Allende, Rohan Kitshoff (3), Ghafoet Luckan and Hilton Lobberts all dotted down, whilst Demetri Catrakilis converted 3 of the tries and slotted 2 penalties.
For Free State Riaan Smit, Inus Kritzinger, Robert van Schalkwyk and Marco Mason all scored tries, with Nico Scheepers having a good day with the boot converting 4 and slotting a penalty.
