The DHL Western Province Under-19 team ignored the wet and windy Cape Town conditions on Saturday as they ran in a comprehensive 55-11 over the SWD Eagles at City Park.
The home side led 19-6 at the break, with three tries to nil, and opened the floodgates in the second half to score another six tries with the wind at their backs.
Fullback Cheslin Kolbe kicked five conversions (from nine attempts), whilst right-wing Selom Gavor scored a brace of tries for the rampant hosts – who rested a few key men in this match, but, yet, still did well in the tricky conditions.
Captain on the day, JP Lewis, also touched down for the DHL WP U19 side, as did fit-again flanker Eital Bredenkamp – amongst the four tries that were scored by the home team in the exciting final 15 minutes of action.
