Must-win game for Durb-Bell

PUBLISHED: March 15, 2013

Top Western Province club side, Durbanville-Bellville are eyeing up their final Cell C Community Cup pool match against Welkom Rovers as a springboard to play-off qualification.

Durb-Bell are favourites to join Police as Pool B’s qualifiers, with their opponents, Welkom Rovers, needing a massive victory to stand any chance of overtaking Durb-Bell on points’ difference.

A positive result for the home side will see Durb-Bell head to George over the Easter Weekend for the play-offs in the first-ever Community Cup tournament.

“Our preparation for this very important fixture against Welkom Rovers went very well. This bye came at the right time for us to sort out a few injury problems after our 95-20 win over Bloemfontein Police,” said Durb-Bell assistant coach Bobby Joubert.

“Young players like Gerrit Theron and Raynor Becker are looked upon to make an impact from the start. We have veteran players Izak Saayman and Johan Nienaber back in the team and their experience is very important for this coming fixture against Rovers.

“We have to win to qualify for the play-offs in George.”
