Moerat to lead DHL WP U19 at Loftus

PUBLISHED: July 6, 2017

Lock Salmaan Moerat will captain DHL Western Province U19 in their first game of the season against Vodacom Blue Bulls U19 at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

Last year’s SA Schools captain leads a team which includes nine other SA Schools players and two other Junior Springboks in the match-day squad, for the clash which kicks off at 15h00 on Saturday.

Skipper Moerat, prop Sazi Sandi, hooker Schalk Erasmus, lock BJ Dixon, loose forwards Charl Serdyn and Muller Uys and wing Mike Mavovana are the seven players in the starting line-up that represented SA Schools last year.

DHL Western Province U19 coach Nazeem Adams said that while there is a lot of talent in his team, they will need to gel quickly for what will be a tough encounter away from home to open their campaign.

“The Vodacom Blue Bulls have always got a strong U19 team and we know that we are in for a serious test up there this weekend.

“It doesn’t get much tougher than starting your season at Loftus Versfeld so we will have to produce something special if we are to get off to a winning start.

“The challenge for us will be to settle down as a unit as quickly as possible in order to deal with what we will face in Pretoria,” he said.
