Midfield switch for DHL WP U21

PUBLISHED: September 14, 2023

There is a change in midfield for DHL Western Province U21 in the team to face Toyota Cheetahs U21 in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

The log-leaders will be looking to make it four straight wins this season when they take on the Free State side at Shimla Park at 15h00 on Saturday.

Damian Markus has recovered from the illness that saw him withdraw from last week’s comprehensive win against Lions U21 at City Park and will line up alongside Meyr Retief in midfield.

The only other change is at scrumhalf, with Asad Moos in for Imad Khan and Joshua Miller coming onto the replacements bench.

Having shown the full extent of their attacking potential in scoring 10 tries last week, the challenge will now be to back that up away from home.

Head Coach Jono van der Walt said that his team understand the challenge.

“It is never easy to win in Bloemfontein, so we will have to be switched on to make the most of every opportunity if we are to make it another win.

“We have once again kept good continuity in selection and our combinations are settling nicely, so hopefully that will show on the pitch on Saturday,” he said.
