DHL Western Province will be looking to end their Carling Currie Cup campaign on a high as they take on the Cell C Sharks in Stellenbosch.
It is a warm afternoon in Stellenbosch, so conditions are good for rugby.
0 – Kick-off in Stellenbosch where DHL WP are up against the Cell C Sharks in their final match of the Carling Currie Cup season.
2 – Both teams kicking and looking for territory early.
4 – Sharks go through phases outside the 22, but the DHL WP defence holds up well and forces a knock-on. High tackle so Leyds can kick to touch.
6 – Chip kick from Leyds for De Jongh but Sharks claim it and try to run out of their half.
8 – Sharks kick high and obstruction from DHL WP means Bosch can kick to the corner.
9 – It goes wide to Kok but he is tackled into touch in the 22. Lost forward by DHL WP this time, so Sharks have a scrum.
12 – DHL WP come from behind their own tryline with Sergeal Petersen collecting his own chip and finding Ebenezer Tshimanga in support. Bursey goes into the 22 but loses it forward in the tackle.
15 – Sharks clear and Petersen runs it back before DHL WP win a penalty on halfway so Leyds kicks out in the 22.
17 – Leyds is through but can’t control the ball so the Sharks have a scrum in the 22 and clear to touch.
18 – DHL WP keep the pressure on and a chargedown from Bursey means they have an attacking scrum in the 22.
20 – Sharks get a breakdown penalty so they can clear it.
23 – DHL WP back on the attack and get a breakdown penalty. This time they kick for poles and Cornel Smit puts it over to make it 3-0.
26 – Sharks on the attack with a line-out in the 22 but DHL WP get it back and kick long.
29 – Both teams kicking for territory, Sharks put it out on the full though so DHL WP have a chance to attack.
30 – DHL WP keep the patience on attack and a beauty of a grubber through from Tristan Leyds gives Sergeal Petersen a try on a platter.
34 – DHL WP come from their own half again and this time it is Thomas Bursey who nips around a ruck to score the second try, with the conversion from Smit making it 15-0.
40 – Half-time in Stellenbosch where DHL WP have scored two tries and a penalties to take a 15-0 lead into the break. Now to back that up in the second half.
42 – Second half underway and the Sharks put the restart directly into touch.
44 – Breakdown penalty on halfway so the Sharks kick it into the 22. Maul penalty so they kick to the corner again.
47 – The Sharks force their way over, with Notshe scoring next to the poles to make it 15-7.
49 – DHL WP go on the attack and into the 22 but lose the ball forward. Sharks clear from the scrum.
53 – The Durban side score their second try through lock Le Roux Roets to bring them back within one point of DHL WP.
55 – Sergeal Petersen takes a high ball, races down the touchline and puts a shibobo grubber through the last defenders legs for Bobby Alexander to touch down for a great try.
58 – Sharks back on the attack as DHL WP forced to defend in their 22.
62 – The see-saw battle continues in Stellenbosch with wing Marnus Potgieter scoring in the corner for the visitors to bring them back within one point.
65 – Blose bursts through and find Alexander in support, but his pass is intercepted on the tryline by Kok and the Sharks clear.
67 – Breakdown penalty in front of the poles but Leyds kicks to the corner as they look for another try. Sharks steal the line-out and clear it.
69 – Another penalty right in front and Smit slots it to make it 25-21.
70 – DHL WP back on the attack but it is lost forward in the tackle so the Sharks have a scrum.
73 – Sharks break out and go into the 22, but a crucial turnover and penalty means that DHL WP can clear.
76 – Sharks with a scrum just outside their own 22. They need to score from here if they are going to win it.
78 – Knock-on in the 22 in the Sharks backline so DHL have a scrum.
80 – Cornel Smit slots a penalty after the hooter to seal the 28-21 win.
