Late try robs DHL WP Under-19s

PUBLISHED: August 4, 2012

A late try by the Leopards saw the home side grab a 27-24 win over the DHL Western Province Under-19 side at Olën Park in Potchefstroom on Saturday.

The DHL WP U19s scored four tries to three, and led 19-13 at halftime, but a Hendrik Marais try – and Jacobus du Plessis’s conversion – saw the Leopards just get their noses in front in the last few minutes.

DHL WP’s tries were scored by flanker Eital Bredenkamp and centres Juan Gunter and Justin Geduld (two), with flyhalf Tommy Allan (two) adding two conversions for the visitors.

Both Gunter and Geduld scored crucial tries in last weekend’s 20-16 win over > the Vodacom Blue Bulls’ Under-19s and they were at it again in Potchefstroom. Geduld’s second try – in the 47th minute – looked to have secured the win for Nazeem Adams’s brave charges as they led 24-20.

However, the home side eventually had the final say as Marais went over and Du Plessis converted with just two minutes remaining on the clock – an unlucky result in the end for the DHL WP juniors.
