Important stadium rules: 2014 Absa Currie Cup Final

Supporters attending Saturday’s massive 2014 Absa Currie Cup Finals Day are encouraged to enjoy the day with us at DHL Newlands, but they are once again reminded to RESPECT their fellow patrons and observe the stadium rules throughout.

The day’s action will kick-off at 12h15 when the DHL Western Province Under-19 team plays host to the Blue Bulls in the Absa Provincial U19 Final, before the Absa Under-21 Final between DHL WP’s U21s and the Bulls at 14h00.

The main match, the 2014 Absa Currie Cup Final between DHL WP and the Xerox Golden Lions will get underway at 17h00.

IMPORTANT POINTS FOR SPECTATORS TO REMEMBER AHEAD OF SATURDAY:

We are expecting a large crowd at the game. Please enjoy the magic of DHL Newlands but RESPECT those around you and observe the stadium rules to ensure a pleasant day out for all. A large security and eventing contingent as well a large amount of uniformed and non-uniformed SAPS officials will be on duty on matchday to facilitate your safety, security and enjoyment of the event. Feel free to highlight any issues to the security staff.

Most importantly, please remember the following:

Get to the stadium early – come and watch both curtain-raisers. Remember, rule 7 of our stadium rules state that patrons cannot be guaranteed timeous access if they are not there 30 minutes prior to kick-off.

– Rule 5 of our stadium rules clearly states – “The construction or use of any type of fire, naked flame barbecue or liquefied petroleum gas device, for cooking or heating, is prohibited within the Ground.” The ground is defined in rule 1 as “the Stadium and the car parks – the Ground”. Please note that no form of braaiing, both naked flame, or gas, is allowed in any car park amongst or near to vehicles. This is to ensure the safety of all at the event. Please note that this will be monitored by SAPS, Fire and Disaster Management on the event day.

Please do not over imbibe. Rule 12 states: Intoxicated individuals will be refused entry into DHL Newlands. Patrons clearly under the influence of alcohol will have their tickets confiscated at the gates, with SAPS and stadium security policing access points. Intoxicated patrons that gain entry, may be asked by security to leave the stadium.

Please observe the no smoking rules. Rule 24: Smoking is not permitted on the stands and is only allowed in the designated areas. This includes any and all forms of smoking including but not limited to electronic cigarettes and smoking devices

No form or use of racial language or abuse will be tolerated at DHL Newlands (Rule 11). Should you observe an incident or be subjected to any form of abuse, please notify the nearest stand security official. You may request to speak to a stand security manager, there are managers on every stand who, if required, will escalate to the Venue Operations Control Centre (VOC).

– The match will be crowded, please safe-guard all your belongings at all times.

DO NOT purchase tickets from ticket touts outside the stadium. Not only is this illegal, but there is no guarantee that the tickets are, in fact, genuine.

– Let’s also enjoy the match and RESPECT the opposition players and match officials. Let’s not boo the opposition.

– Let’s be courteous to visiting fans and supporters!
