Florida Park in Ravensmead will be the venue for the SuperSport Rugby Challenge Final on Sunday, with entrance free of charge and tickets available at the gate.
With DHL Western Province having gone through the competition unbeaten, they will play host to the Tafel Lager Griquas at 14h30 on Sunday after both teams secured semifinal victories at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane last week.
The action will get underway at 12h00 with a clash between Tygerberg RFC and Belhar RFC, which is one of the biggest derbies on the Western Province club rugby calendar, to kick things off. Both games will be televised live on SuperSport Four and SuperSport 10.
There will also be live performances from AKA and The Voice winner Craig Lucas.
There is limited space available, so spectators are encouraged to get there early to secure their place for the action.
It has been quite a campaign for coach John Dobson’s DHL Western Province team, who dominated the South Section of the competition by beating the EP Kings, SWD Eagles, Border Bulldogs and Boland Cavaliers at home and away to claim 39 out of a possible 40 log points and go through to the play-offs as top seeds.
They ceded their home advantage in the semifinals so that the knock-out matches could be played in Mdantsane and were forced to work hard to book their place in the final by a spirited Vodacom Blue Bulls side.
The Tafel Lager Griquas secured their place in the final with a 33-21 victory against the Xerox Golden Lions in their semifinal in Mdantsane and come into the final with just one defeat to their name this season.
