The DHL Western Province Under-19s romped to a 36-7 win over Border’s Under-19s in East London this morning, crucially grabbing a four-try bonus point in the process.
Scrumhalf Pieter Schoonraad (pictured, above) grabbed a try double at the Buffalo City Municipal Stadium, as the WP Under-19s converted their 19-0 half-time score into a clinical five tries to one victory.
Flyhalf Chris Smith kicked three conversions, with WP’s other tries being scored by flanker Ruan Rossouw, left-wing Jason Morris and hooker Chad Solomon.
It was a matter of job done for WP Under-19 coach Nazeem Adams, who said before the match that a four-try bonus would be crucial for their semifinal hopes.
Coach Adams told www.wprugby.com: “We needed a bonus point victory today, but we have two more tough games remaining against the Lions and the Sharks, so our attention has now shifted to those last two matches.”
WP now occupy fourth place on the Absa Provincial Under-19 log, with two more league matches remaining for them in 2013.
