First defeat for DHL WP U21

DHL Westerrn Province U21 went down 41-13 against Xerox Golden Lions U21 on Saturday for their first defeat of the season.

Having won their first two games, DHL Western Province U21 were looking to continue that winning run, but were outscored by five tries to two at Emirates Airline Park in Johannesburg.

The home side opened the scoring with two early penalties which gave them a six-point advantage, but those were to be their only points of the first half, with DHL Western Province U21 taking a slender lead into the break.

Flyhalf Jordan Chait slotted a penalty before wing Sihle Njezula crossed for the first try, which put DHL Western Province 8-6 up at half-time.

The Xerox Golden Lions U21 responded with two quick tries of their own early in the second half, which gave them a 20-8 advantage.

They followed that up with two more tries to secure the bonus point, leaving DHL Western Province out of it at 34-8 down.

DHL Western Province U21 hit back with a try from captain Nama Xaba, but the home side would have the final say with a maul try to secure the victory.
