The unbeaten Group A teams, Durbanville-Bellville and Hawston, will battle it out in the final round-robin matches in the inaugural Community Cup competition on Saturday.

The competition, a joint venture between the rugby unions of the Western Province and the Boland drew a huge crowd at City Park on Saturday. The centralised venue proved to be a huge success – both on and off the field, as two Vodacom Cup matches were also played.

Several past heroes like Dawie Snyman, Peter Jooste, Kabalie Davids, Betram Vraagom, Richard Britton, Jowa Abrahams and Cassiem Jabaar were spotted at the venue and sharing some memories of past battles at this historic venue.

On the field, Hawston recorded their second victory of the competition, beating Ceres 17-12. This match was a closely-contested affair between the two Boland sides. Durbanville-Bellville still top the Group A log after another powerful display of forward play saw them beat Tygerberg 19-7.

Villagers Worcester, from the Boland, top Group B after their win over Saldanha. SK-Walmer fought gallantly against Belhar but with a number of new players in their line-up they could not find their rhythm.

Four teams will return to their home venues this week, with fixtures between Durb-Bell v Hawston (Durbanville), Tygerberg v Ceres (Florida Park), SK Walmers v Villagers Worcester (Green Point Track) and Belhar v Saldanha (Accordian Park) taking place on Saturday, March 15.
