The DHL Western Province Under-19 team put in a disciplined performance to defeat the Sharks Under-19s by 21-8 in Absa Provincial U19 action in Durban on Saturday afternoon.
The DHL WP Under-19s led by 14-3 at half-time and conceded just five points in the second half to record their sixth win of the 2015 Absa Provincial Under-19 season.
Right-wing Duncal Saal scored a brilliant opportunistic try in the first half to help his team lead by 11 points at the break, with vice-captain Edrich Venter powering his way over in the second half to seal the win.
Crucially, however, the DHL WP Under-19s’ defence held out brilliantly on the day – despite numerous raids on their line.
Province will take on the Blue Bulls at DHL Newlands next Friday.
