The DHL Western Province Womens team ran in 11 tries in their 55-5 victory against their counterparts from Boland at Helderberg RFC on Saturday.
With rain falling for most of the match, conditions were challenging at the Charles Morkel Stadium, but DHL Western Province Women still managed to put together some impressive rugby.
Boland enjoyed a territorial advantage in the opening stages, but the DHL Western Province defence held out well under pressure to deny the visitors.
The home side were devastating on the counter-attack, sending the ball wide to their dangerous runners who were able to punish the Boland defence.
Off the back of a solid scrum, DHL Western Province scored two early tries, both of which were sparked in their own half.
Once they had established a three-try cushion there were wholesale changes to the DHL Western Province side as the coaching staff took a careful look at all of the talent at thir disposal.
They took a convincing 25-0 advantage into the half-time break and built on that platform in the second half as the rain started to fall even harder.
Boland managed to get on the scoreboard in the second half as relentless pressure saw them find a way through the stout DHL Western Province defence.
However, DHL Wstern Province hit back soon afterwards and ran in a further three tries to seal a comfortable win in the end.
