DHL Western Province will not change their approach and will be looking for balance against the Cell C Sharks in the Currie Cup Final at DHL Newlands on Saturday.

The defending champions have gone unbeaten this season to earn home advantage in the showpiece match, which will be a replay of last year’s final and kick off at 16h00 on Saturday.

DHL Western Province won all six of their round robin matches with bonus points and have scored 40 tries in their seven matches, which has given the DHL Newlands Faithful much to celebrate this season.

Assistant Coach Dawie Snyman says that while they will have to deal with the pressure that comes with a final, DHL Western Province will not be changing their approach and will rather stay true to playing the rugby that got them into this position.

“The pressure of a final will be there, but we are going to embrace it and we are going to go out there and be ourselves, enjoy the moment and play the rugby that we have been playing.

“We are in front of our home crowd, it is exciting for the players and something we have worked towards as a team,” he said.

For Snyman, the key will be for DHL Western Province to find a balance in their game.

“Play-off rugby can be a little different, but I think we will stick to our strengths. The play-offs bring a different kind of pressure, that is true, but we must just get our balance right.

“One of our strengths this season has been the balance that we bring, our ability to mix good attack with good kicking, that wasn’t great this weekend. It is something we have discussed and focused on in team meetings and hopefully we will get it right against the Sharks,” he added.

This week there has been a big focus on recovery following their extra-time win against the Vodacom Blue Bulls in their semifinal at DHL Newlands.

“We are at that stage of the season where player management is important and over the last three weeks haven’t trained on the Monday.

“A big focus will be on getting any niggles sorted out so that we are 100 percent fresh and ready for the challenge that faces us on Saturday,” he said.
