DHL WP go down at Ellis Park

PUBLISHED: June 15, 2013

A young DHL Western Province XV went down 12-42 to the Golden Lions in a friendly in Johannesburg on Friday evening.

The Lions, pretty much at full-strength after their Vodacom Cup triumph last month, led 28-5 at half-time.

DHL WP’s tries went to flanker Joshua Katzen (in the first half) and fullback Dillyn Leyds (in the second half) on the night, with flyhalf Tim Swiel knocking over one conversion.

“The score is obviously disappointing, but I believe we played better than the score.

“I am positive that the 14 Under-21s that played here tonight against a good Lions side would have learnt something important and that will benefit DHL WP this season,” said coach John Dobson.
