DHL WP U21s win big in Durban

The DHL Western Province Under-21 team recorded a resounding 47-15 win over the Sharks in Absa Provincial Under-21 action in Durban on Saturday afternoon.

John Dobson’s charges scored seven tries to two in an emphatic display, converting their 14-3 half-time lead into their third win of the 2014 season.

Fullback Huw Jones notched up a try double, with DHL WP’s other tries coming from impressive lock JD Schickerling, scrumhalf Jean Nel, No.8 Sikhumbuzo Notshe, replacement back Janco Gunter and outside centre Johnny Kotze.

Flyhalf Robert du Preez kicked five conversions and Gunter weighed in with a conversion of Kotze’s try in the 80th minute.

The forwards laid the platform for WP’s resounding win, with Schickerling, Jacques Vermeulen (pictured, above) and Notshe standing out up front and Du Preez controlling things well from flyhalf.

Province top the Under-21 log after three games – boasting 14 points (out of a posssible 15) – with the Blue Bulls U21s in second position on ten points with a match in hand.
