DHL WP U21s into another final

PUBLISHED: October 18, 2014

The DHL Western Province Under-21 team moved into a third successive Absa Provincial Under-21 Final, as they scored a convincing 41-17 win over Free State’s U21s at DHL Newlands on Saturday afternoon.

Having won the title last year and securing first place on the log this season with a game in hand, the DHL WP Under-21s still had it all to play for in today’s semifinal and they did not disappoint.

With flyhalf Robert du Preez marshalling his troops with aplomb once again, the rest of his team rose to the occasion to make it a fourth final in five years for coach John Dobson.

Hooker Michael Willemse, centre Johnny Kotze and No.8 Carel du Preez scored first-half tries as the hosts led 24-3 at half-time.

There was to be not let-up in the second half either, as the WP U21s scored three mores tries to make it two from two today for Western Province, the Under-19s having won through to the final earlier today (also against Free State).
