DHL WP U21s get down and dirty

PUBLISHED: June 18, 2013

The DHL WP Under-21 team has stepped up its preparations for the 2013 Absa Provincial U21 competition, with a series of training matches taking place on Wednesday, June 19.

Three practice matches will take place in Wellington tomorrow – at 13h00, 14h30 and 16h00.

A WP U21 Amateur XV will kick things off against a SARU Academy ‘B’ team at 13h00.

A WP U21 ‘B’ side will then take on the SARU Academy ‘A’ team at 14h30, before the day’s matches conclude with the DHL WP U21s in action against the Boland Senior team at 16h00.

These matches will serve as the final round of trials before coach John Dobson and his co-coaches cut the squad on Wednesday to a more manageable “36 or so”.

A slightly reduced squad will then attend a four-day camp in Hermanus next week – starting on Wednesday, June 26 and finishing on Saturday, June 29.

The DHL WP Under-21s will then play two more warm-up matches – on July 1 and 2 – before their opening league match of the year, against the Junior Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Saturday, July 13.
