The DHL Western Province Under-21 team moved to the top of the 2014 Absa Provincial Under-21 log with a dominant 91-7 win over Border’s U21s at City Park on Saturday afternoon.
The DHL WP U21s led 43-7 at half-time, scoring seven tries in the first half and eight in the second half as they took advantage of the Lions’ loss to the Sharks on Friday night to head up the log by two points with a game in hand.
Flanker Tapiwa Tsomondo scored a hat-trick of tries, whilst right-wing Lihleli Xoli and replacement forward Alva Senderayi scored two tries each for the hosts.
Replacement back WJ Strydom kicked seven conversions, after coming on as a replacement early on for flyhalf Chris Smith who left the field on a stretcher.
Province dominated every single facet of play, as their powerful forwards bossed proceedings up front, before their skilful and hungry backs made the Border defence pay for any missed tackles out wide.
