DHL Western Province U21 narrowly missed out on a place in the SA Rugby U21 Cup Final, falling just short in their home semifinal.
Having lost just one match in the league phase of the season, DHL Western Province U21 finished in second place on the standings, to set up a semifinal clash with Lions U21 at Villager RFC.
Despite falling behind in the play-off match, the home side fought back bravely, scoring three unansered tries to finish just two points off the visitors at 28-26.
The season started with a comfortable win in Durban against Cell C Sharks U21 before they suffered their only defeat of the league phase against eventual table-toppers Vodacom Bulls U21.
They then pulled off an impressive 25-17 away win against Lions U21 at Emirates Airline Park and followed that up with comfortable home wins against Cheetahs U21 and Leopards U21.
There were some talented players who got some valuable exposure in the course of the season, with the likes of Junior Boks Connor Evans, Imad Khan and Keke Morabe all impressing.
The team was ably led by lock Simon Miller and there are more than a few players in the squad who are set to make their senior debut for the DHL Stormers in the current season.
