DHL WP U19 too strong for Free State U19

DHL Western Province U19 scored four tries on their way to a 28-12 victory against Free State U19 at Brookside on Saturday.

All four of their tries came in a dominant first-half display, with the visitors’ two tries both coming in the second half.

DHL Western Province opened the scoring early on as skipper Schalk Erasmus forced his way over from close range, with flyhalf Francke Botha adding the conversion.

They doubled that lead soon afterwards when inside centre Henlo Marais picked up an intercept to race away.

Powerful wing Christian Guetang grabbed a brace of tries as the home side piled on the pressure at Brookside to take a 28-0 lead into the half-time break.

The Free State U19 side hit back at the start of the second half with a try of their own from replacement scrumhalf Rewie Kruger.

DHL Western Province U19 were struck a further blow when replacement lock Bernard Jansen was shown a yellow card for repeated infringements, and Free State U19 took advantage by scoring a late try.
