DHL WP U19 go down in Durban

DHL Western Province U19 went down 45-23 in their semifinal against the unbeaten Cell C Sharks U19 in Durban on Saturday.

Despite scoring three tries in an entertaining clash, the visitors could not avoid defeat as the Cell C Sharks U19 secured their place in the final next week.

DHL Western Province U19 made a determined start and took an early 6-0 lead with a penalty and a drop-goal from flyhalf Chris Schreuder.

The Cell C Sharks responded with a penalty of their own, but DHL Western Province U19 would get the first try as captain Francke Horn scored to make it 13-3.

The home side went on to score three unanswered tries before half-time, which gave them a 25-13 advantage at the break.

The Cell C Sharks U19 were first to score in the second half as well, but DHL Western Province U19 hit back with a try from outside centre David Kriel which reduced the deficit to 30-18.

The home side responded with two tries and a penalty of their own, before DHL Western Province had the final say with a try from Schreuder which made it 45-23 in the end.
