DHL WP U19 fall short in Pretoria

DHL Western Province U19 scored four tries in Pretoria, but could not avoid a 43-29 defeat against Vodacom Blue Bulls U19.

It was the third defeat of the season for DHL Western Province U19 in their seventh game, which leaves them in third position on the standings.

The visitors made a convincing start to the game and raced out to a 10-0 lead with a penalty from flyhalf Chris Schreuder followed up by a try under the poles from fullback Quan Eyman as the result of a slick backline move.

Vodacom Blue Bulls U19 responded with three tries and a penalty of their own to take the initiative back and although DHL Western Province U19 hit back with a try from scrumhalf Gerado Jaars, they trailed 24-17 at the half-time break.

A try from inside centre Waqar Solaan brought DHL Western Province U19 within two points just after half-time, but the hosts hit back with another to take their lead out to 31-22.

Wing Duran Hoffman went over for the fourth try for DHL Western Province U19, but those were to be their last points of the match, as the home side pulled away with a few late tries to seal the victory.
