DHL Western Province continued their winning ways with a 25-14 victory against the Boland Kavaliers in Piketberg on Saturday.
It was the eleventh win from 12 games this season for coach John Dobson’s team who keep hold of second place on the Currie Cup Qualifier standings.
The home side struck first after a tense opening 20 minutes with a try from Christopher Bosch which was converted by Nico Schaeepers to make it 7-0.
DHL Western Province responded with a penalty from flyhalf Robert du Preez, and he followed that up soon afterwards with a try to put them 8-7 up.
Another try on the stroke of half-time from hooker Chad Solomon meant that DHL Western Province took a 15-7 lead into the break.
They extended that lead at the start of the second half with another penalty from the boot of Du Preez, but Boland hit back with a try from Danwell Demas which brought them right back into the game at 18-14 once converted by Scheepers.
However, DHL Western Province would have the final say as a late try from centre Johnny Kotze saw them claim a 25-14 victory.
