The DHL Western Province U18 LSEN Craven Week team fought hard but went down 20-11 against a determined Boland side at Affies in Pretoria on Tuesday.

DHL Western Province had taken a 8-7 lead into the half-time break, but their Western Cape neighbours produced a fine second half performance in what was a rematch of last year’s final match.

Boland, Free State and the Valke all continued their winning ways at the Learners with Special Education Needs (LSEN) Week to remain the only unbeaten teams in the tournament.

The Valke, meanwhile, defeated the Golden Lions Extraordinary Education team 41-12, while the Free State scored seven tries to two by the Leopards for their 41-17 win.
The second day’s action proved to be good for hosts, the Blue Bulls, who bounced back from their 43-8 round-one defeat against Boland to beat Gauteng neighbours, the Golden Lions, 34-17.

The Eastern Cape, Pumas and Griffons also bounced back strongly on Tuesday after a disappointing opening day, with the Eastern Cape defeating SWD 32-25, while the Pumas registered a convincing 31-10 victory against KwaZulu-Natal and the Griffons beat the Blue Bulls Extraordinary Education team 22-14.

The teams will have Wednesday off to rest and recover, with the final round of matches being played on Thursday.
