DHL WP forced to change for Lions

PUBLISHED: September 26, 2012

DHL Western Province head coach Allister Coetzee has named his team for Saturday’s Absa Currie Cup clash against the MTN Golden Lions at DHL Newlands (kick-off 14h00).

Notable selections include:

Damian de Allende moves up from the bench and starts in the No.11 jersey, in for the injured Gio Aplon (ankle), with WP Under-21 star Pat Howard joining the replacements.

Tyrone Holmes starts at No.7 after serving a one-week suspension last week. As a result, Don Armand returns to No.4 lock, with Wilhelm van der Sluys dropping to the bench (No.18) and JJ Gagiano falling out of the matchday 22, after making his debut for DHL WP last week.

Coetzee has stuck with the same all-WP Under-21 front row combination of Steven Kitshoff, Scarra Ntubeni and Frans Malherbe, that started against GWK Griquas last weekend. The coach has again opted for two props on the bench in Deon Carstens and Brok Harris, with captain Deon Fourie (on the flank) providing hooker cover.

Berton Klaasen will provide further backline cover on the bench, in for the injured Gary van Aswegen.
