PUBLISHED: August 25, 2014

The DHL Western Province Emerging team will open their 2014 Southern Amateur Provincial campaign against the EP Invitational team at Vosloo Park in Humansdorp on Monday afternoon.

The WP Emerging side will play games on Monday (kick-off 14h00), Wednesday (either 12h30 or 16h00) and Friday (either 10h30 or 12h00) as they look to once again represent the Southern region at the National Amateur Series Play-offs later in the year.

Last year, WP made it through to the final of the National Amateur Play-offs, before going down narrowly (30-31) to the Bulls at DHL Newlands.

The likes of Gabri Lourens, JP Kellerman, Jose Julies (pictured, above), Craig Pheiffer and Danwill Erasmus are all back in the mix for Province this year and will look to help their team challenge for silverware one more time.

Coach Lionel Langenhoven told www.wprugby.com: “The players are looking forward to representing their province and, hopefully, making it through to the national play-offs once again.

“We know it will be tough but we will rely on the experience of those players returning to help those newer faces in the team.”070-336
