DHL Western Province received a major boost ahead of their clash with the Leopards in Potchefstroom this weekend, with a number of players set to return to action from injury.
Following their morale-boosting 24-23 victory over the previously unbeaten ORC Griquas at DHL Newlands, DHL Western Province will be able to call on the likes of Jaco Taute, Robert du Preez, Wilco Louw, Jean Kleyn and Alistair Vermaak.
With six wins from their seven games this season, DHL Western Province currently sit in third position on the standings as the highest placed Vodacom Super Rugby union.
Coach John Dobson said that while he was happy with the victory against ORC Griquas, he believes that his team can still make better use of the opportunities they are creating.
“I think the feeling after winning on Saturday was one of relief. We keow we needed to win in order for us to stand a chance of winning this qualifying competition.
“Having said that it was a bit too close for comfort. We thought we dominated in all the key statistics of the game, but failed to really put them away.
“A lot of credit must go to their defence, but we also need to look at ourselves and our ability to generate fast ball,” he said.
While Dobson will have a bit more firepower at his disposal in Potchefstroom this weekend, he knows that his side will have to keep raising their standards to compete with a strong Leopards team.
“This competition does not get any easier as the Leopards beat the Vodacom Blue Bulls in Pretoria last week and we travel now to Potchefstroom to play them,” he added.
